Craig Pittman, writer of this award-winning non-fiction book "Oh, Florida! The Way America's Weirdest Condition Influences the Rest of the Country," is a native Floridian. Produced in Pensacola, he graduated from Troy State University in Alabama, in which his muckraking function for the pupil paper prompted an agitated dean to label him "the most destructive force on campus" Since then he has covered many different paper beats and many organic disasters, including hurricanes, wildfires and the Florida Legislature. Since 1998 he has reported on environmental problems for Florida's biggest paper, the Tampa Bay Times (previously the St. Petersburg Times), where his policy has won both state and national awards. A show he co-wrote with Matthew Waite became their book, "Paving Paradise: Florida's Vanishing Wetlands and the Failure of No Net Loss" (2009). Since then Pittman has written "Manatee Insanity: Within the War Over Florida's Most Famous Endangered Species" (2010), which the Florida Humanities Council announced an "important read" for many Floridians, and "The Scent of Scandal: Greed, Betrayal, and the World's Most Beautiful Orchids," that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution announced "irresistible." His most recent publication, "Oh, Florida!" Won the gold trophy in the Florida Book Awards for Florida non-fiction. The New York Times called it "compulsively readable." Pittman resides in St. Petersburg, Fla., with his wife and children. To learn more, see http://www.oh-florida.com/home.html
