Alison Dykstra is a registered architect since 1983 and includes a master's degree in design. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifications Institute, from which she obtained CDT certification in construction documents technology. Her field expertise ranges from project management for developers of mid-rise steel framework and townhouse complexes , to construction and design control of her own residential jobs, to organizing and planning programs concerning wind and solar energy systems.
Dykstra began teaching building company and direction from 1992 and is now an adjunct faculty member at Santa Rosa Junior College in California. Her students include those new to construction. Through time, Dykstra has developed and innovative methods for conveying into both new students and seasoned professionals the complex information containing building management in a manner that permits students to grasp the topic, make it their own, and also go on to become successful building supervisors, superintendents, or architects.
