Daren C. Brabham is a assistant professor in the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, in which he examines new networking and teaches tactical communication. He was the first to publish scholarly study using the expression "crowdsourcing," an internet, distributed problem solving and manufacturing model that leverages the collective intelligence of online communities for particular organizational targets. His work has appeared in such books as Convergence; Information, Communication & Society; First Monday; Planning Theory; Journal of Applied Communication Research; and International Journal of Communication. His work was financially supported by the US Federal Transit Administration, the IBM Center for the Business of Government, along with the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada. A native Texan, he made a B.A. in Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in communication at the University of Utah.
