David Anthony Durham (born 1969) is an American novelist, author of historical fiction and fantasy. Gabriel's Story, Durham's first book, based on African American settlers in the American West. Walk followed a runaway slave during the times. Pride of Carthage focused on Hannibal Barca of his war and Ancient Carthage . His Acacia Trilogy is a epic fantasy collection. His novels have been New York Times Notable Books, won 2 awards in the American Library Association, and has been translated into nine foreign languages. The Risen, his most recent novel, is about the Spartacus slave rebellion in ancient Rome. He currently teaches to the Stonecoast MFA Program in Creative Writing.
