David Wondrich Reviews

David Wondrich was born in the banks of the Monongahela and increased in New York City. After working as a house painter, a mattress stuffer, messenger, clerk along with procedure server for a mob lawyer, bass in more bands than he could count along with a couple other items, he settled down and earned a doctorate in Comparative Literature, specializing in Latin scientific poetry. This led to a role as an English professor, which he did not like. What he'd enjoy was writing to the Village Voice and the New York Times about ragtime and jazz and roughly cocktails for Esquire, a job he started in 1999 and is still happily performing today. His 2007 tribute to Professor Jerry Thomas, Imbibe, has become a vital text for bartenders and cocktail geeks alike. It is the first cocktail book to acquire a James Beard award. His 2010 follow-up, punch, has aided re create the bowl around the world. At present he's hard at work on a big, thick reference book.
