Alicia I. Arquillo Reviews

Alicia I. Arquillo is a homemaker, grandma, and author who lives in Georgia with her family. She particularly enjoys people, dogs, books, and even writing.
Alicia was born in Puerto Rico in 1947. Her dad migrated into the US in 1951. Six months after, the family was reunited in new york, at a tenement rooming home in west 85th Street. Alicia and her family lived there for a year until they could afford an apartment. Alicia has many brilliant memories of this area, school, and rooming home. The brand new apartment was 1926 Third Avenue, and the front window faced the Third Avenue elevated train. This is an ideal flat, and a terrific neighborhood. Regrettably, unheated apartments were in the late 50's, forcing the family to proceed. The household's last apartment was in a home project at 50 E. 104th Street. Alicia has numerous recollections of life at the projects--that the camaraderie of teens, the various personalities, from Catholic college pupils to gun-totting juveniles and gang members. Some humorous stories, in addition to shocking ones, took place in the jobs. During a friend, Alicia detected a number of the Afro-Cuban spiritual beliefs and practices. She relates some stories which are culturally informative, interesting, and colorful.
