I grew up an only kid from the 1950s and also experienced the explosion of rock ‘n roll music and it Top 40 radio. The women and men, who played the music and the audio, told that the stories and turned into my sisters and brothers. My dream to be on the radio was crystallized while listening to my transistor radio.
A blessed profession of being a disk jockey, program director, national program director for mythical Gordon McLendon, along with eventual overall director of WDRQ and W4 at Detroit and then launch KIQQ (K-100) at Los Angeles produced dreams come true.
After 25 years in motion picture marketing for Columbia, Universal and MGM/UA, I returned to my first love of radio and I started to chronicle the business, writing three books on Los Angeles Radio People and publishing a radio-themed website, www.LARadio.com.
Back in 2013 I was appointed the radio columnist for the Orange County Register. I will continue to chronicle Los Angeles Radio People and listen to this ever-changing radio arena.
