Duen Na Korat
Sawadee kha from Thailand,
My name's Duen. I had been born in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) in the Northeast (Isaan) of Thailand, hence the writer title Duen Na Korat . I grew up in a household that was large, about 30 family members. This is how a lot Thai people traditional lived and Thai women's part was to do the cooking.
I began cooking at 7 years old and I have been cooking for almost 30 decades now. My mom and grandma taught me how to do things for myself in a young age. They taught me lots of things about cooking and that I did not know back then that it would become such a huge part of business and my life later on.
Back in 1991, Nakhon Ratchasima suffered a serious drought, and the farm property didn't produce sufficient to support the entire family. Find work in town, many and most of my family had to start new lives. I had been 12 years old after my mom, father, older brother, younger brother and I proceeded to Chonburi town and opened a small restaurant, which can still run my mum and dad today.
I went to high school in the day time and in the evening worked in the restaurant, cooking, waiting and clearing tables and washing the dishes. It was hard fitting in at college because I was dark skinned woman in the countryside village and I was different from the city kids. After I showed my classmates I was intelligent, hard working and studied well I was welcomed into their "gang".
I studied well throughout high school and then at college. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree. Then I went to work as a Project Coordinator in a Marketing/Events business in Bangkok. Like most people I was not really happy in my job and was just working for the money.
Back in 2008, I met with my husband when he came to Thailand for a holiday. Just like me he wasn't Joyful wit
