Ally Shields was born and raised in the US Midwest, along the Mississippi River, also believes himself a "river rat" The area and its rich folklore provide the backdrop for her urban fantasy books. Following having a career in law and juvenile justice, then she writes full time and lives near Des Moines, Iowa, with her Miniature Pinscher, Ranger. If not writing, reading, or visiting family, she's probably traveling and often comprises those places inside her stories.
