Ellie Drago-Severson is currently Adult Learning & Leadership and Professor of Education Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University. A developmental psychologist, Ellie educates, conducts research, and consults to school and district leaders, teacher leaders, and associations on personal and professional growth and learning; leadership that encourages principal, teacher, faculty, and leadership development; and training and mentoring in K–12 colleges, college settings, and other adult education contexts. She's also an internationally certified developmental coach (Immunity to Change™ trainer) who works with leaders to build internal capacity and achieve improvement objectives. Her work is inspired by the concept that schools must be places where seniors and children can grow, and she's dedicated to creating the conditions to do this and to assisting leaders and teachers of all kinds to do the same on behalf of encouraging youth and adults.

At Teachers College, Ellie is director of the PhD Program in Education Leadership, teaches aspiring and practicing attorneys in Columbia University’s Summer Tech Academy and aspiring superintendents from the Urban Education Leaders Program, along with coaches principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders in the Cahn Fellows Program to Distinguished Leaders. She gained her BA from C.W. Post, Long Island University, and her masters and doctorate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, where she was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from 1998 to 2001. Before her work at Teachers College, she served on the faculty at Harvard (1998–2005), in which she was awarded the Morningstar Award for excellence in instruction (2005). She has also received awards for outstanding in teaching by Columbia University Teachers College and Harvard’s Extension School.
