Dr. Etienne Côté is a board certified veterinary cardiologist and Little animal internist in the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown (Canada).
He obtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1993, interned at California Animal Hospital in Los Angeles in 1993-1994, also chased his own specialty training there at small animal internal medicine (1996-1998) and in cardiology (1998-1999).
Dr. Côté teaches cardiology both at the classroom and in clinics to final-year veterinary students. His teaching effectiveness and leadership are recognized using the Merial Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching, the Pfizer Carl J. Norden Distinguished instructor Award, the Janet Pottie Murray Award for Educational Leadership, along with the Association of Atlantic Universities Distinguished Teaching Award at 2009. In 2015, he received Canada's highest recognition when he was named a 3M National Teaching Fellow in instruction.
He's author and editor-in-chief of 3 variants of the Clinical Veterinary Advisor textbook for small animal clinic; coauthor of their only post on heart disorders of cats, Feline Cardiology; cocreator of Veterinary Board Games study resources; cocreator of the Veterinary Drug Index evidence-based medication information repository; founder of this Elsevier Collection of Veterinary Medicine Clinical significance Videos - Little Animal Procedures and Techniques; coeditor of the 8th edition of the Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine using Stephen Ettinger and Edward Feldman, and author or coauthor of 28 scientific articles and 59 textbook characters.
He owns two Newfoundland dogs, and his hobbies include things like cleaning up, traveling, languages, jogging, hiking, snowshoeing, and Shotokan karate.
