Excellent coffee is an easy matter of preference. The level of your beverage rides on the farmer, the importer, the roaster -- along with yourself, for its final preparation.
As for what is the best coffee in the world, the classic answer would be, "The one you like." We'll expand on that, by stating, "that the one you love ... well brewed!"

To better understand the culture of coffee, it's important to remember that every berry or fruit of coffee -- every coffee bean -- was developed by a farmer. That means it is normal for the product to evolve or switch from one year to another. Changes in the number of rainfall and sunshine, variations in soil, temperature and manufacturing techniques (harvesting, drying, washing, etc.) will influence the quality of the coffee bean. These parameters are called "terroir", like from the wine-making industry.
With this in mind, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) is currently working with many manufacturers in different countries to improve the whole production and harvesting procedure.
Humidity, density of the bean, enter fever, "delta scatter", ventilation are all variables to master throughout the roasting process.
