France Winddance Twine was created at a working class community and spent the majority of her early life on the Southside of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Catholic schools and at age 16 entered Northwestern University where she made her B.A. in age 20. She spent four years working as a clinical specialist operating in inpatient psychiatry before visiting Colorado, New York (West Village) after which New Orleans where she was employed as a waitress, bookbinder and a artist and lived a bohemian lifestyle. She has taught at Duke University, University of Washington in Seattle and has been a Visiting Distinguished Professor at The London School of Economics & Political Science. In 2008-09 she had been a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. She is a Professor of Sociology in the University of California at Santa Barbara. Twine, a top scholar of societal inequalities has released 70 novels, articles, reports and reports such as 4 single authored books, 5 edited volumes and over 40 journal articles, reports and essays and has conducted field research in Brazil, Britain and the US. She's now co-authoring a publication on the tech industry.
