G. Scott Thomas was a journalist for nearly 40 years, specializing in coverage of demographics, politics, sports, business, and education. Five of his 11 novels have focused on Republican politics: “The Pursuit of the White House” (1987), “The United States of Suburbia” (1998), “Advice in the Presidents” (2008), “A New World to Be Won” (2011), also “Counting the Votes” (2015). Thomas edits a site dedicated to the history of presidential elections at He retains a B.A. in American history in Washington and Lee University, and now lives in Tonawanda, N.Y., together with his wife and daughter.
