I'm a consultant and educator in Brooklyn, NY. I also happen to be an avid traveler, and I like going places when I could. This "unforgiving" passion, as well as love for learning new things made me thrilled to find (almost by accident) airline and hotel charge card applications. I was floored when I understood that regular mile and loyalty hotel plans operate just fine for infrequent travelers and to the "disloyal", as well.
Earlier I discovered this "magic bullet", I traveled the world over the cheap, though using less powerful approaches to conserve cash. Since I stumbled on the USA from behind the Iron Curtain, I was looking for low-cost Methods to travel. I used (well, most) tricks from the book to journey on the budget: by driving rental cars along the East Coast, to fighting comps as a home-based travel broker (funny story actually, not for this particular novel), and from maintaining an ever-changing list of abroad air-ticket consolidators to flying abroad as a air-courier. And it's hardly the entire list!
However, when I discovered Frequent Mile and Hotel Loyalty applications approximately eight or nine years ago, nothing else mattered anymore. Budget travel is fantastic, but it is still not totally free, while vacationing on regular miles and hotel points is only that: almost entirely complimentary travel. Almost, as you still must pay taxes, get to and from the airports, trick people and purchase some booze (not always in this order). But the most expensive portion of your travel: flight and remains are entirely doable with no out-of -pocket expenses. I have been traveling for free or almost free for almost a decade, and now that I personally use the method outlined in my novel.
I always practice what I think. And I'm having fun doing this
