Gin Mackey Reviews

Years before, following decades of business writing for major corporations, I discovered I loved additional types of writing, especially what was fun and humorous. I composed vignettes in my life as a new wife and step-mom. Early influences from watching endless episodes of I Love Lucy along with Perry Mason as a kid came in to play, along with my writing flowed into a comic mystery. As soon as I sat down at my desk to write, I would laugh. What a lark those days were! Out of that happy-go-lucky time appeared that the novel SUDDENLY SPYING, a fast, enjoyable caper.
But I am a January infant, and such as the two-faced god Janus for whom the month is termed, my writing contains two very different faces.
When I found my laughter hid a secret that kept bubbling up: I'd deeper, more difficult words to compose. My mom died suddenly when I was (she was merely forty-five), and that there was a deep well of decades-old sadness and confusion that I had to state. Eventually, I understood I had to confront my fears and let this annoyance to surface my own fiction.
I wished to unite this raw damage and my passion for mysteries. So began a publication near and dear to my own heart, DISAPPEAR OUR DEAD. For everyone who has struggled with the pain of loss, felt confusion about why bad things happen, wondered whether life was worth living, know I feel your own pain. That is my hope that amidst the puzzle, Disappear Our Dead supplies just a small solace to readers whose hearts have also been broken.

However, my internal imp remains living and well, and I continue to love to read and write everything’s light and lively, and what’s thought provoking and profound.
