Gramicci has been the brand new, free spirited, brand of the outdoor industry for more than thirty years. In 1982, an accomplished rock master climber made the iconic G-Climbing Pant and Short. It is engineered gusset crotch and one hand, simple cinch and release nylon belt/buckle system made what are currently the archetypes of function and design for scaling and outdoor activity. However, the spirit of the new came out of something more. The very first production of G-pants and shorts were un-dyed whitened - dirtbaggers / rock climbers and surfers alike shot such blank canvases home and RIT dyed their G in whatever colors which expressed their personalities. Pink, purple, blue orange, and tie dyed, splattered; this act gave birth to what has become an ongoing underground cult after thousands and thousands of Gramicci Heads all around the world. More than just a item, Gramicci represents a reflection of personal independence and individuality.

Deeply dedicated to greener fabricating, Gramicci proceeds to study and adopt new standards of manufacturing which reduce its impact on the environment. Its organic products have obtained certification from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), OE Blended (Organic Exchange for mixed materials) and OE 100 (Organic Exchange for all organic materials). As an ongoing ecological and social initiative, at 2007 Gramicci introduced Start Somewhere™. Located on Gramicci.com, Start Somewhere™ is an online portal where people may go and learn, and connect with a change making person or organization dedicated to doing either environmental or societal good.
