Hanne Blank is the writer of "Straight: The Suprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality" (Beacon Press, 2012). She spends her time writing, learning, thinking, and speaking at the crossroads of culture, self, and bodies. Joyfully spanning the town/gown split as well as the mind/body divide, her books contain the foundations Straight: The Surprisingly brief Annals of Heterosexuality (Beacon Press, 2012) and Virgin: The Untouched History (Bloomsbury, 2007), the cult classic sex and body-acceptance publication Big Big Love: A Gender and Relationships Guide for People of Size (and People Who Love Them) (Celestial Arts, 2011), along with many others.
Hanne's work has been featured in periodicals Which Range from Penthouse to Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, and in anthologies ranging from Embodied Opposition: Challenging the Norms, Breaking The Requirements to Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power plus also a World Without Rape.
An former Scholar of the Institute for Teaching and Research on Women in Towson University, Hanne has taught in a Variety of capacities on campuses such as Brandeis and Tufts. She's also a popular speaker and guest lecturer, with looks ranging into the Femme Seminar in 2006 from Harvard University.
Hanne lives in a 175-year-old stone mill cottage on a dirt street in the center of Baltimore, and travels frequently to talk and teach. She includes a tnettennba, is a citrus and tea drinker that lives in a beer and coffee nation, and is a fervent defender of the Oxford comma.
