Without understanding a word of Italian, I moved to the north of Italy 26 years ago! I picked it up pretty fast, largely by watching American soaps filmed in Italian with Italian subtitles... but was too shy to talk for approximately a year!
26 decades later, I now work as a translator, from Italian into English. Especially when I have the opportunity to translate a children's novel and screenplay written by an Italian author, it is a job I enjoy. The screenplay is winning awards at film festivals that are American!
I have always written short stories and novels from a young age - that I still have a short story I wrote when I was 10 that was published at the school magazine!
I love reading - I'll read nearly anything! I tend to spend the majority of my time eating Italian food, and relaxing with my husband and two sons!
The one thing I do not enjoy about Italy is the climate - cold and damp in the winter, warm and humid in summer time months. With fleas of mosquitoes in the summertime months and stink bugs in the autumn...
but Overall, it is a wonderful place to call home.
