Helen Bryan was born in Virginia, grew up in Tennessee, graduated from Barnard College and lives in London where she qualified as a barrister and is now part of the Inner Temple. She left the Bar to compose whole time after publication of her publication. Her latest book The Valley, the very first publication of THE VALLEY Trilogy, is put in colonial times in the wilderness of Virginia Colony, in which an ill-matched and distressed group of settlers fight to live and establish a community in the New World.
She's the author of two bestselling historical fiction novels. The first "War Brides" is a World War II saga inspired by family holidays in a tiny East Sussex village, the wartime reminiscences of elderly relatives and friends, and also the real life tales of those courageous young women who joined Churchill's Special Operations Executive. Her second novel "The Sisterhood" is really a romantic/religious/mystery saga spanning 400 decades, put in sixteenth century Spain and Spanish America and comprising an unlikely modern heroine.
She's also the writer of a biography, "Martha Washington First Lady of Liberty," given a Citation of Merit by the Colonial Dames of America and a layman's guide to the English planning system "Planning Applications and Appeals".
