James Marshall Smith Reviews

James Marshall Smith is a scientist and writer who has enjoyed an extensive career from space satellites to molecular biophysics. He was founding leader of the radiation research division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, where he held a Distinguished Scientist/Consultant appointment. He traveled widely in a consulting job following the Chernobyl and Fukushima atomic disasters and has served as an adviser on nuclear-threat countermeasures for its International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at Vienna, the G7 Global Health Security Action Group at Berlin, London and Paris, and also for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

In recent years he's taken up writing books, a guilty delight he started on and off during much of his lifetime. Silent Source, his debut book to be published in October, 2016, was one of three international finalists for its 2015 Clive Cussler Grand Master Award. Hybrid, another thriller (yet to be published), was a short-listed finalist at the William Faulkner-Wisdom Creative Writing Contest and a finalist at the Colorado Gold Novel Competition. His fiction writing abilities were honed in writing publications in LA and NYC along with University of Iowa summer writing assignments and a summer semester on creative writing at Oxford.

Born and raised in the heart of Appalachia--West Virginia--James currently writes and lives in Georgia with his wife, June, also a WV native.
