A 47 year resident of rural Alaska, Jake Jacobson has held Alaska Master Guide permit #54 since 1984. Jake came to Alaska as a Indian Health Service itinerant dentist traveling to bush villages for a couple of years, then he traveled around Alaska as a private coach to get 18 years.He speaks American, Spanish and can get by in German.
Jake began directing as an Assistant Guide n 1967, has flown since a Commercial Instrument rated pilot as 1970,amassing over 10,000 hours as pilot in control of single engine bush planes. He logged hours.
He holds a 100 Ton Mariner's Captain permit, with support primarily in the Gulf of Alaska, the Bering Sea and Kodiak Archipelago waters. Jake fished for salmon, crab, halibut and herring.
Jake has been filmed and created dozens of promotional videos and films in Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia & many African countries.
Jake lived in Kotzebue, Alaska located 37 miles north of the Arctic Circle for 20 years. He returns to his paychecks 118 miles north of Kotzebue to run large game hunts and fishing excursions during September and August annually. He resides for the rest of the year in Kodiak, Alaska. Jake is the owner and founder of Arctic Rivers Guide & Booking Service.
Following decades of scribbling highlights of occasions, Jake started writing stories for books, and eventually released his first book: "ALASKA HUNTING: Earthworms to Elephants" at 2013. In the fall of 2014 he released his next collection of short stories: "ALASKA TALES: Laughs and Surprises."
