Jasper Smits, Ph.D. was born and raised in the Netherlands.
He received his doctorate in the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and completed a fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. He had been still on the faculty in the Department of Psychology prior to moving back to Austin in 2013. Additionally, he's Professor of Psychology in UT and that he directs a practice. He's a member of the council of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and a funded investigator in addition to the editorial committee of a range of journals in psychiatry and psychology.
