Joe Cummings was born in New Orleans, also increased in California, France and Washington DC. In high school he developed a taste for subversive politics and rock guitar, playing in a series of garage bands while publishing an underground newspaper. The Peace Corps allowed his request to be posted to Thailand, where he functioned Thonburi, in Bang Mot after he graduated from school. He has been a scholar in residence at the East-West Center in Hawaii, and later earned a master's degree in South Asian Parliament from the University of California at Berkeley. His Thailand guide for Lonely World has been the first guidebook to this country written in English. An immediate success, it is still one of the best selling guidebooks published. He's authored over 45 additional publications, including phrasebooks, coffeetable books and travelogues. Joe has twice been honoured with the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Gold Award and is also a recipient of Mexico's Pluma de Plata (Silver Quill) for outstanding foreign journalism on Mexico. He proceeds to jam regularly at nightclubs in Thailand, and never gave up the guitar. Joe still does not use luggage.
