'The Bear Cards' signifies a confluence of the two paths in life as children's book illustrator and emotional health pro. I have worked together with adults for several years and reside in a tiny town nearby Melbourne, Australia. I have also designed and illustrated several children's publications.

A number of my clients find it difficult to recognize, accept and communicate their own feelings in a wholesome way. Their lack of emotional awareness contributes to a chance to communicate their needs. It might also lead because of an inability to control emotions like anger. Either way, the long term outcomes are seldom positive.

Much of the way we react emotionally to situations has been heard from the early years of our growth. Allowing children to better understand their feelings is vital to their psychological wellbeing during life. Really, 'emotional intelligence' is regarded as a key to both success and happiness.

I first created the idea of using bears as characters for 'feelings cards' when working together with St Lukes Innovative Resources. 'The ' Bear Family' and 'The Bears' were an instantaneous success. Their ease and too little words made them attractive to a broad audience and cut through any sex, culture, literacy and age barriers.

I then chose to take the bears a little further and based Qcards. At Qcards we aim to publish card sets that promote social and psychological well being. We also believe that the cards should be accessible to anyone, especially families. We supply activities, entertaining games and english directions and create the cards more cheap. The Qcards site also offers a growing array of advice and downloadable resources to inspire our clients with areas devoted to kids, parents, teachers and therapists.
