Judy Young Reviews

After Judy Young was approximately ten years old, she revealed her grandmother a poem she'd written. Her grandmother encouraged her to continue writing and Judy did! Judy is the author of over twenty children's fiction, poetry and nonfiction books. Her books have been honored with numerous awards and recognition and are used widely in classrooms across the nation. One of Judy’s most cherished honor was having "A Pet For Miss Wright" read by LaVar Burton for Reading Rainbow Storytime Video. She also loved watching as "R is for Rhyme, A Poetry Alphabet" was conducted by the Tanner Creative Dance Program and Children’s Dance Theatre of the University of Utah to their 58th annual performance.

A frequent speaker at schools nationwide, Judy's writer visits comprise both instructional presentations and poetry writing workshops for both elementary and middle school pupils. Judy also conducts writing workshops and also is a frequent speaker for both associations and professional conferences. With twenty years experience in the public schools, Judy has first hand experience with improving pupils’ workshops and her demonstrations are directly related to school curriculum and writing skills.

Judy resides at the mountains near Mink Creek, IDalong with her husband, Ross, an expert performer. Judy may see a moose walk round a weasel or her front yard chasing a rabblit, while writing. When not writing or talking at colleges and conferences, there are Judy hiking, fishing, or even gallivanting across the nation at "Arlo," the Young's traveling studio, frequently likely to remote places to get ideas for new publications.
