This is a publication of interesting dollhouse crafts such as fashion dolls such as Barbie and Ever After High.
The 1:6 miniverse is my escape from real life. Real life is so. . O…o severe. Decisions. Schedules. Commutes. And so Forth. But all I want to relax is a peek at the doorway of my playroom, to the completed projects from my book and whatever I am working on. Instant calm!
What I enjoy is transforming ordinary substances into something interesting. Without a lot of work. However, it has to be funding friendly. No expensive substances. Dollar store finds, exhausted family snacks and upcycled/throw away bits and pieces would be the basics.
No tricky craft techniques either, and many of the projects are suitable for older kids with some help. Some are incredibly quick to make.
My very first experience with the 1:6 miniverse was the wonderful Mattel merchandise of the mid-sixties, needless to say, the magnificent Barbie and her own tribe. Not the doll himself. Oh, no-no-no. She was a bit scary for a small Catholic schoolgirl in rural Australia a few decades ago.
It had been the rest of the Barbie rack which entranced me. The clothes. The sweet little handbags. The hats. The sneakers. Especially the shoes. It was another planet. All detail! Beautiful colours. Materials that I had never seen before. I still love the sneakers.
So why this pastime? But when I had been a little girl, I wanted something that didn’t even exist.
The ideal dollhouse, rather than at the wimpy 1:12 scale for midgets. A lovely 1:6 scale dollhouse for elegant willowy dolls with wonderfully sophisticated worlds.
About me? I live in Melbourne, Australia, and am not really old enough to retire in work or become a grandma. Not really I work in health care services. I have two adult sons, both Simon and Andrew, who are absolutely wonderful but have never shown any interest whatsoever. Or anything to do together. Love ya boys.
