Karen Armstrong The Great Transformation-and two memoirs, The Battle for God, Holy War, Islam, Buddha, and is the author of numerous publications on religious A History of God, Through The Spiral Staircase and the Narrow Gate. Her work was translated to languages. She has dealt with members of the U.S. Congress on three events; lectured to policy makers at the U.S. State Department; participated in the World Economic Forum in New York, Jordan, along with Davos; addressed the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington and New York; has been increasingly invited to speak in Muslim states; and is now an ambassador for the UN Alliance of Civilizations. Back in February 2008 she had been granted the TED Prize and is presently working with TED on a significant international project to launch and disperse a Charter for Compassion, created online by the public and crafted by leading historians in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, to be signed in the autumn of 2009 by a million religious and secular leaders. She resides in London.
