Karla has educated at such places as the University of San Francisco, Omega Institute, Naropa University, Kripalu Center, and the Association for Humanistic Psychology. Additionally, as a prison artwork educator with all the William James Foundation, she has used drumming, singing, and play to assist men in maximum security prisons research and cure traumas.

Karla is also a Certified Human Resource Administrator along with also a Certified Career Development Facilitator who helps people identify the emotion work that they are expected to perform (or expect other people to execute, perhaps without realizing it). When emotion function is brought out into the open and managed skillfully, people and businesses can prevent conflict, burnout, and lack of productivity.

In her academic career, Karla served as a researcher and editor about the novels Once Killing is a Crime by Tony Waters, Ph.D, and Take Back Your Life: Saved from Cults and Abusive Relationships by Janja Lalich, Ph.D..

With Dr. Lalich, Karla also co-authored a research study on the numerous stigmatizations that GLBTQ individuals experience in fundamentalist religions (Inside and Outcast: Multifaceted Stigma and Redemption at the type of Gay and Lesbian Jehovah’s Witnesses).

A federal Phi Kappa Phi honors scholar, Karla is now pursuing her masters in education and focusing her thesis about developing new types of social socialize
