As a writer, journalist, and motivational speaker I had been the victim of a kidnap attempt at knife-point by an obsessive stalker.

After fifteen decades of living like a hunted animal, I arrived at the understanding that living feeble and in fear was going to destroy me, if I didn’t turn the negative into a positive. That meant getting proactive. I opted to utilize my hard-won wisdom and trial-by-fire abilities as a lesson for girls everywhere. If I could prevent only 1 woman from becoming a crime victim, like myself, it would all be worth it!

Teaming with U.S Congressman Ed Royce, we put out to change the machine. Within a month or two, Congressman Royce and myself played a important role in the passing of the very first nationwide anti-stalking law. We really have a law which can prevent serious crimes from occurring. I think that it’so amazing that law enforcement has the tools to avoid a sexual assault, a rape, a murder, or a different violent crime. In the years since, I have gladly assumed my job as a dedicated and articulate victims’ rights advocate. I am honored to have had the Chance to speak to countless people through looks on, The Now Show, The Montel Williams Show, America’s Most Wanted, Inside Edition, Excellent Morning America and ABC World News Tonight, in Addition to features in books, People Magazine, Time Magazine, Glamour, Redbook, Women’s Day and USA Today.
