Having spent a youth making matters from scraps of cloth, egg boxes and washing up liquid bottles, Katherine has now improved to collecting craft and writing about interiors and design.
In between she failed a British degree, spent four years as a news reporter on a local tabloid and worked as a researcher in the BBC. A stint in Elle Decoration magazine supported her young enthusiasm for all things to do with painting and making, and she proceeded to eventually become Features Editor at Homes & Gardens.
Katherine was commissioned to write her first novel, The Ultimate Home Style Guide, in 1997, and since then she's written 15 longer, on houses, fashion, collecting and craft. She's going to start work on her 17th.
In 2002 Katherine moved to Cornwall, where she now lives with her family.
