Kathryn Shay is a lifelong author. At fifteen, she penned her first 'romance,' a short story about a female newspaper reporter in nyc and her struggle to make a name for himself in a world of man journalists - and using just one hardheaded editor specifically. Looking back, '' Kathryn says that she should've known then that writing was in her future. However, as so often happens, fate sent her detouring down the other route.
Fully intending to pursue her dream of town lights and achievement from the literary universe, Kathryn took each creative writing class available in the small private women's school she attended in upstate New York. Rather, other dreams took precedence. She met and subsequently married a wonderful guy who had attended a nearby school, then completed her practice instruction, a requirement for the education degree she never meant to work with. But says Kathryn, "I fell in love with teaching the first day I was up before a course, and knew I had been meant to do this."
Kathryn went on to build a thriving career in the New York state college system, completely enjoying her work with teens. But by the early 1990s, she had again made room in her life for writing. It was then that she filed her original manuscript to agents and publishers. Despite enduring two years of rejections, she awakens. And on a snowy December afternoon in 1994, Kathryn Shay sold her first book to Harlequin Superromance.
Since that initial purchase, Kathryn has composed twenty-two novels for Harlequin, ten mainstream contemporary romances for the Berkley Publishing Group, also two online novellasthat Berkley then published in traditional print format.
