Kecia Ali is currently Professor of Religion at Boston University. Her most recent publication, "Person in Death," investigates J.D. Robb's futuristic police procedurals, researching the series' largely persuasive version of human flourishing in addition to its critical silences and omissions. The majority of her writing concentrates on gender as well as the Islamic tradition. Her revolutionary "Sexual Ethics and Islam" is currently available in an expanded and updated edition. Her other publications include "Union and Slavery in Early Islam," "Imam Shafi'i: Scholar and Saint," and "The Length of Muhammad." She co-edited the revised edition of "A Guide to Women in Religion," which provides practical advice for careers in religious studies and theology. She is now at work on "Women in Muslim Traditions," geared toward students and general readers. Ali is active at the American Academy of Religion, and is a former president of the Society for the Study of Muslim Dentistry. See her website at www.keciaali.com.
