Kevin Henkes is illustrator and the author of close. He also received the Caldecott Medal for #x 2019 & Kitten;s First Full Moon in 2005. Kevin Henkes is also the founder of a number of picture books including his mouse figures, such as the #1 New York Times bestsellers Lilly’s Big Day along with Wemberly Worried, the Caldecott Honor Book Owen, along with the dear Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. His latest mouse character, Penny, was released in Penny and Her Song (2012); her story continued in Penny and Her Doll and Her and Penny Marble (a Geisel Honor Book).
