Kristin Nicholas is an artist, writer, and designer who lives on a sheep farm with daughter and her husband in western Massachusetts. She is the author of 10 novels on inner decoration, and genders, embroidery. She has also illustrated several of her novels.

Crafting a Colorful Home is Kristin's newest book - published by Roost Books in early 2015. It's a guide to design for your property, painting, and decorating. Kristin's home was featured in Country Home, the Boston Globe, also about the Houzz.com website where it was the "Most Popular Colorful House of the Year" in 2012.

Colorful Stitchery, initially published in 2006 was re-issued and re-designed. It was published by Roost Books at Sept. 2014.

Kristin teaches on-line knitting and stitching courses on the sites Craftsy, Creativebug, and is the Knitting Expert on PBS' Knit and Crochet Currently.

She learned to knit, crochet, embroider and sew as a young woman. For 16 years she was the Creative Director of Classic Elite Yarns in Lowell, MA. She writes the farming, knitting and lifestyle blog http://getting-stitched-on-the-farm.blogspot.com/

Kristin is famous for her innovative use of bright colours and textures. Many of the designs feature the Fair Isle knitting technique and lots of the projects are worked in the round on circular and double pointed needles.

Kristin and her family possess Leyden Glen Farm with a number of 250 breeding ewes. The cows are raised for beef where they sell at Farmers' Markets. Their 2 Border Collies, Ness and Kate, help tame the sheep and also keep everyone in line. Guard dog Winston
