Dr. Ashley Oliphant is an Associate Professor of English and the Faculty Fellow for the Francis Center for Servant Leadership at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C.. Her teaching specialties include 20th-century American literature, literary modernism, linguistics and rhetoric and composition. Her doctoral dissertation, completed at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2007, was known as "Hemingway's Mixed Drinks: An Examination of this Varied Representation of Alcohol Round the Author's Canon."
Dr. Oliphant's curiosity about shark teeth hunting climbed from her years of vacationing within the South Carolina coast with her loved ones. When she gathered around 8,000 shark teeth, she wanted to find out more about species identification. Frustrated by the absence of available literature about shark teeth in the Carolinas, she set out to compose a novel for all viewers to enjoy.
She's an animal-welfare advocate in her regional community. As the founder of this Humane Voters of Lincoln County, she spearheaded the successful movement to terminate the usage of this gas chamber in the county shelter. Presently a portion of the grant-writing team for HATS (Helping Animals to Survive) in Lincoln County, she, along with a legion of other volunteers, is working to create the local shelter the first no-kill civic centre in the whole state.
In her spare time, Dr. Oliphant enjoys to see, garden, cook for her family (including her son Miller), float within her pool and await the next NASCAR race to come to tv. She has two cats, Irish Kevin and Schooner Wharf. Her life-long dreams are to Have a signed edition of Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea and to meet Jimmy Buffett.
