Avraham Azrieli

Avraham Azrieli’s publication Deborah Growing (Harper Collins, 2016) won the 2017 Illumination Book awards - Gold Medal for Fiction. It portrays the stunning rise of the first woman to direct a country in recorded human history. A graduate of Columbia Law School in nyc, Azrieli tried many complicated court cases prior to his very first novel, The Masada Complex (a political thriller) was published in 2010. A fulltime author since then, his other publications include the Israeli spy novels The Jerusalem Inception along with The Jerusalem Assassin, in addition to Christmas for Joshua (a household play dealing with interfaith conflicts), The Mormon Candidate (a political thriller), Thump (a court drama featuring sexual harassment and racism) and The Bootstrap Ultimatum (a puzzle involving the commercialization of Memorial Day). He also authored Your Lawyer to a Brief Leash (a guide to coping with lawyers) and One Step Ahead – A Mother of Seven Escaping Hitler’s Claws (a WWII biography, which prompted the musical By Wheel and by Wing). Azrieli climbed in Israel, in which he clerked to the Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem, received Talmudic education and served as an intelligence officer and, later attending law school.
