Beth Spencer, a social worker with masters degrees in social work, educational gerontology and English, has been employed within the field of aging for at least 40 decades, specializing in caregiving and dementia care. She's co-author with Laurie White of several novels, including two family caregiver manuals: Coping with Behavior Change in Dementia and Moving a Relative with Dementia. Throughout the 1990s, Beth had a private practice and worked as a home care and hospice social worker. More recently she was Director at the University of Michigan (UM) Silver Club Memory Loss Programs, also a clinical social worker in UM geriatric practices and Project Director for UM Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Social Work. She has been a lecturer at various universities, most recently UM School of Social Work. Beth shared with the main caregiver duties for her older mother until her death at 2016.
