This was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak's career as a bestselling author--she caught her day-care supplier siphoned her kids with cough syrup to make them sleep all day. This was when Brenda decided help make a living from home and also she needed to quit her job.

"After I initially got the idea to turn into a novelist, it took me five years to educate myself the craft and then complete my very first book," Brenda says. But she offered that book, and the rest is now history. Her books have made the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists and won many awards, including the National Reader's Choice Award, the Book Buyer the Book Seller and also five Rita nominations.

Brenda and her husband, Ted, live in Sacramento and are very proud parents of five children--three girls and 2 boys. When she is not spending time with her family or composing, Brenda is usually increasing funds for diabetes study (her youngest child gets this disorder). Up to now, Brenda has raised $2.5 million.
