Carolyn Marsden grew up in Southern California and Mexico City. She began to write for kids although she wrote for several years. She attended Vermont College and got a MFA. Her first publication, '' The Dress was a Booklist Top Ten Youth Novel of 2002. Silk Umbrellas, her second book, was Booklist Top Ten Art Novel of 2003 and a Texas Bluebonnet nominee. Ever since then, Carolyn has published more award-winning middle tier chapter books by Candlewick, Viking, along with Carolrhoda, nearly all. Starfields (Candlewick 2011), rolls on the 2012 prophesy. The White Zone is set in contemporary Iraq. My Revolution takes place in 1960s Czechoslovakia. Carolyn resides with her Thai husband and two half-Thai daughters in California.
