Charles Hornsby has been a writer, analyst and occasional contributor to the politics of Kenya for over 25 years. He's combined a professional career in IT with a multinational firm (that has allowed him the opportunity to reside in Ghana, Kenya, The Netherlands, Malaysia and Ireland) using a deep involvement with Kenya, its own politics and prospects.

He also completed his doctorate on Kenya at St. Antony's College, Oxford in 1986 and has been the co-author in 1997 of the powerful "Multi-Party Politics in Kenya" by David Throup. He's been a journalist observer and observer in various elections.

He spent almost a decade studying and writing "Kenya: A History since Independence", which was published in 2011 to critical acclaim and was serialised widely in the Kenyan media.

He is married to Gifty plus they have two children, Edith and Peter.
