Christopher Totten is a Assistant Professor of Game Design at George Mason University with a Masters Degree in Architecture with a concentration in digital media in the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He has participated in many independent and serious game projects as a artist, animator, grade designer, and project manager and has recently recognized Pie For Breakfast Studios in Washington, DC. Articles featured on Gamasutra, Game Career Guide, and other books have been written by Chris. He's the author of An Architectural Approach to Level Design, published with CRC Press/AK Peters at 2014 and Game Character Creation in Blender and Unity, released by Wiley Publishing at the summer of 2012.
Chris has spoken in several game development and sport studies conventions such as Dakota State University's Workshop on Integrated Design, GDC China, East Coast Game Conference, and also the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) Seminar. He has also discussed using games to deal with real-world issues at events like the mHealth Conference in National Harbor, MD.. Chris is an active member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and serves on the steering committee of this Washington, DC chapter. He has also been involved as a volunteer for many decades from the GDC Conference Associate program.
Chris wants to help shape a new generation of game designers that look deeper into their work to make personally expressive pieces. He works with students and other designers to challenge gambling conventions.
