Lou Bustamante

Growing up, Lou Bustamante wanted to be a "mad scientist," operating in a lab full of alchemical apparatus, bubbling beakers, along with tesla coils. This led him into the spirits industry, in which concocting distillates and magical tonics using machines is more standard.

A souls specialist who has filled a substantial variety of roles within the business, Lou has done everything from working at a distillery to bartending, teaching cocktail classes, designing whiskey labels, developing products & recipes, and importing 20 tons of cooked agave piñas in Tequila, Mexico.

Lou, a born and bred SF Bay Area native, holds a Fine Arts degree from UC Berkeley, and has written on pubs, restaurants, and spirits for Wine & Spirits Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, Tasting Table, Thrillist, and SF Weekly.

On an average to get a job, he tastes a few 500 cocktails a calendar year, and while he is smart enough to largely taste and not drink all of them, he ends up.

Judy Bennett

Judy Bennett has been called "screamingly funny" and "the Erma Bombeck of booze." In her novel, Bloody Marys: Sanguine Solutions for a Slew of Situations, she instructs not just how to make 45 of the most unique and tasty Bloody Marys you have ever seen, but also how to utilize all to cause a specific outcome. She claims there is a Bloody Mary for almost any occasion, make it counting calories, counting on a marketing, or counting notches on your bedpost.

When Judy isn't behind the bar, you’re likely to find her a) organizing her 127-pair shoe collection; b) performing burlesque beneath her stage name, Nadia Nice; or c) teaching wellness seminars for those who lead mad, busy, boozy lives like hers. Bloody Marys has twice made the Oregonian's record, "100 Things We Love." You’ll enjoy this book too. You can rely on it.
