Hi, and thank you for seeing Amazon Page. I am Karen Charlton, a writer of puzzles. I write historical crime fiction, set in Regency England.

My Detective Lavender Mysteries, printed by Thomas & Mercer, would be the literary experiences of Stephen Lavender, who was a real-life Principal Officer with the Bow Street Police Office at London.

By the early 19th century, Chief officers had a number of important and different functions although they were nicknamed 'Bow Street Runners' as if they were messenger boys. On certain occasions, they have been sent overseas to assist with crimes and criminals who had spilled out over our borders onto the continent.

During my study, I've come across heaps of their instances reported in the papers of the time. I often rely on them as the basis for the plots of the novels. I am currently writing the fourth book in this series: 'Plague Pits & River Bones.' There are also two Detective Lavender Short Stories to highlight the string: 'The Mystery of those Skelton Diamonds' and 'The Piccadilly Pickpocket.'

'Acquiring the Eagle', my first publication, is the authentic story of our infamous ancestor, Jamie Charlton, who had been detained in 1810 of Northumberland's biggest robbery. To explain my late husband and I first found this gaol-bird within our own family tree, I wrote my nonfiction genealogy publication, 'Seeking Our Eagle.' It's a 'How -we-d
