Don Freeman

Don Freeman was created in 1908, in San Diego, California. For a gift, he obtained a trumpet in a young age from his dad. He practiced obsessively and finally joined a California danceband. He ventured to New York City to study art in the Art Students 'League under the tutelage of both Harry Wickey and Joan Sloan. playing his trumpet evenings, he was able to support himself during his instruction, in nightclubs and at weddings.
Gradually, he slipped into making a dwelling drawing beliefs of Broadway shows for The New York Times and The Herald Tribune. A heartbreaking episode aided along, in no small part, this change; he dropped his trumpet. He had been so engrossed in sketching people on the subway 1 day, he forgot it sat beside him on the chair. He had been introduced into the world of Childrens' Literature, when William Saroyan requested him to illustrate many publications. Through his writing, he managed to make his very own theatre: "I love the flow of turning the pages, the picture of what is next. Ideas come at me and following me. It is all so natural. I work all of the time and it is such a pleasure. I really don't know when the time finishes. I've never been more happy in my entire life!"

Don died in 1978, after a long and productive career. He created several characters that were beloved possibly the most beloved one of them overall-wearing bear, a stuffed, called Corduroy.

Don Freeman was the writer and illustrator of many popular books for children, such as Corduroy, A Pocket for Corduroy, along with the Caldecott Honor Book Fly High, Fly Low.
