Christopher R. Martin

Christopher R. Martin is professor and the former head of Communication Studies at the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, Iowa. His analysis has been published in Journalism Studies, Journal of Communication Inquiry, Communication Research, Labor Research Journal, Perspectives on Politics, Popular Music and Society, Journal of Communication, plus he has written pieces for Rogue magazine, Huffington Post, '' Editor & Publisher, and the Des Moines Register. With Richard Campbell and Bettina Fabos, he's co-author of Media and Culture: An Introduction to Mass Communication, and Media Principles (both Bedford/St. Martin's), and writer of an award-winning publication on how labor unions are covered in the press media, Framed! Labor and the Corporate Media (Cornell University Press, 2004).

Martin formerly educated at Miami University (Ohio), also has been also a visiting professor at Universitat Klagenfurt (Klagenfurt University) at Austria. He's also the Veridian Community Engagement Award, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts Faculty Excellence Award, along with a recipient for Faculty Excellence. Martin holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, an MA from Emerson College, and a BA from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
