Philip K. Dick

Within a writing career that spanned three years, Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) published 36 science fiction novels and 121 brief stories in which he explored the character of what makes man human and the risks of centralized power. Toward the end of his life, his work turned toward profoundly personal, metaphysical questions regarding the nature of God. Eleven books and short stories have been adapted to film; especially: Blade Runner (based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) , Total Recall, Minority Report, and A Scanner Darkly. The recipient of critical acclaim and several awards throughout his career was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Library of America released a selection of his books. His work was translated into over twenty-five languages.
