Jean-Martin Fortier is your founders of Les Jardins de la Grelinette, a globally known micro-farm famous using low-tech, high-yield procedures of manufacturing. A major practitioner of biologically intensive cropping systems, Jean-Martin has over a decade’s worth of experience in small organic farming and has facilitated greater than fifty seminars and workshops in Europe, Canada and the US promoting the concept of how micro-scale farming as an alternative way of life.
Jean-Martin additionally leads occasionally as a tool and equipment adviser for businesses such as Johnny’s Selected Seeds and Dubois Agri-Novation. His very first book, icirc & Le Jardinier-Mara;cher marketed more than 15,000 copies from the French language because its launch in the fall of 2012.
Julia Shanks, chef and serial entrepreneur - works with food and agricultural entrepreneurs to assist them achieve operational and financial sustainability. She provides technical help and business coaching that permits them to launch, stabilize and grow their ventures. She's a regular lecturer on sustainable food systems, accounting and small business management; also sits on the advisory board of Future Chefs and can be now the regional leader of Slow Money Boston.
In 1997, following 5 years of cooking in restaurants, Julia started her first company, Interactive Cuisine. Through this innovative company, she supplied informal cooking courses in the comfort of the house kitchen. Julia received her BA from Hampshire College and an MBA, Magna Cum Laude, from Babson College. She's co-author of this Farmers Market Cookbook which received critical praise in The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald and Taste of the Seacoast; also has been cited as a benchmark in Michelle Obama’s American Grown. Her next book, The Farmer’s Office will be published in September 2016. In her miniature, urban garden in Cambridge, MA, she harvests vegetables seven months from the year.
