Greg Fishman

Saxophonist and flutist Greg Fishman is an accomplished actress, recording artist, writer, instructor and clinician. Born in Chicago in 1967, he began playing professionally at age fourteen. Greg graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in Jazz Performance, also got a Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern University.

He's one of the leading experts on the songs of Stan Getz and is the author of three Getz transcription books published by Hal Leonard. His self-published books, Jazz Saxophone Etudes, Volumes 1 – 3, 3, Jazz Saxophone Duets, Volumes 1 – 3, 5, Jazz Phrasing for Saxophone, Volumes 1 – 3, 5, Jazz Guitar Etudes, Hip Licks for Guitar, Jazz Trumpet Duets, Hip Licks for Trumpet, Tasting Harmony,™ Hip Licks for Saxophone Volumes 1 & 2 as well as The Lobster Theory (and also other analogies for jazz improvisation) have been in circulation globally and have been endorsed by leading teachers and jazz celebrities, including Michael Brecker, Jerry Coker, Bob Sheppard, James Moody and Phil Woods.
Greg is a contributing author of jazz concept posts for Jazz Improv magazine, JAZZed, Chicago Jazz Magazine, IAJE Jazz Educators Journal, and was featured on the cover of Saxophone Journal, for whom he also writes. He's the writer of the liner notes for its Verve reissue of the Getz recording The Steamer.

John Stein


Internationally famous jazz guitarist John Stein was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri USA where he shot up his instrument from a young age. His talent for and love of music ultimately gained him a faculty position at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he's a Professor in the Harmony Department.

John Stein is a seasoned teacher, clinician, recording artist, and author. John has performed as a leader or a sideman with some of the planet's greatest jazz acts, along with his compositions and performances pay the range of jazz styles.

John is a prolific recording artist for a pioneer, along with the contributions he has made to other artists' projects. His newest recording, Wood and Strings [WSC 093], premiered in April 2017.

John has printed informative columns from Just Jazz Guitar Magazine for several years that focus on composition and arranging for jazz guitar. Berklee Press has released John's arranging materials in a publication that's currently available, entitled: Berklee Jazz Standards For Solo Guitar. He has compiled the compositional materials into two books which are currently available: Composing Blues For Jazz Performance, and Composing Tunes For Jazz Performance.
