Though she's been devoting all her life, quilting is a newly found passion for Jacquie. The improvisational spirit of these insides of Gees Bend motivated her to make her very first quilt along with the improvisational approach provided the freedom she craved and the chance to explore her creative possibility. Jacquie's quilt layouts fuse her Mennonite background and respect for convention with her contemporary design aesthetic. "Quilting Modern, Techniques and Tasks for Improvisational Quilts" is her first publication.

Jacquie is a leading designer and author for Stitch, Modern Patchwork, Quilter's World and Quilter's Quarterly and her quilts have been featured in other domestic and international publications. She's among those artists featured in the books, "Block Party" and "We Love Color." Jacquie is a leader in today's cosmetic movement. She serves on the Board of Directors of the National Modern Quilt Guild and can be among the founding members and former president of the Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild and currently a part of the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. Jacquie educates and talks quilting across the nation and shares her designs and quilting knowledge on her popular blog, Tallgrass Prairie Studio. She lives in downtown Chicago along with her husband, Steve, along with her black lab, Bruno.
